One of the more elusive usages of definitive stamps in the Great American series is the solo proper use of the 19¢ Sequoyah stamp.
The Sequoyah was issued on December 27, 1980 to pay the upcoming new surface rate for post cards mailed to foreign destinations. This 19¢ surface rate was in effect from January 1, 1981 through February 16, 1985.
After years of searching, I finally was able to buy an example on eBay in August 2002.
The card was mailed to Sweden from West Palm Beach Florida on May 21, 1981.
